Huntley’s capital projects are the buildings, spaces and grounds that turn a good school into a great one for the next generation of Huntley children.
School fees cover the cost of running Huntley day to day. Projects like these are only possible through donations, grants and sponsorship. Choose a project below to see where it’s at and how you can help. Every donation makes a difference, small or large — there’s no minimum — and every donation to a project counts towards lifetime membership of the 1896 Club.

In planning
Huntley’s classrooms have served generations of students well. Now, we’re reimagining them for the students still to come. Classrooms for the Future will strengthen our buildings and reshape our learning spaces around the way children learn today — better light, better air and better technology. These will remain true, individual classrooms, not open-plan.
What we hope to include
Plans are still being developed with our community, and early support helps shape what’s possible.

Under way
Solar power is just the start of Sustainable Huntley — our journey towards a school that runs on less and lasts longer. It’s an investment in our students’ futures, and in the planet the next generation is set to inherit.
Huntley is installing a 144-panel solar system, with more sustainable ideas to come as Classrooms for the Future takes shape.
Every donation towards Sustainable Huntley helps cover the cost of this first step, freeing up funds for our other projects — including the turf.

Fundraising now
Huntley’s grounds are more than a school field — they’re the home turf of a region. Tennis Manawatu and Rangitikei Hockey both play here, a genuine sporting hub that happens to sit inside our gates.
A renewed turf will give Huntley students a fast, safe, all-weather surface to train and compete on — and give the codes who share it a home ground they can rely on for years to come.
It means more games played here at home, more young players from across the region coming through our gates, and purpose-built grounds where sport builds resilience, teamwork and belonging, well into the years ahead.

Sound & Vision: $5,100 to go
For as long as Huntley has stood, the Chapel has been where the whole school comes together — for services, for reflection, and for the moments that matter beyond the classroom.
Sound & Vision
Our St Barnabas chapel is where the whole school gathers — for services, assemblies, prize givings and carols. Sound & Vision will bring Huntley’s first-ever chapel sound and vision system, so every reading, address and choir voice can be heard clearly, visiting speakers and musicians can share their talents, and everyone in the room — including families there for the first time — can follow along together.
The project includes:

We need $5,100 to complete Sound & Vision. Donations of any size help, and we’d also welcome a donated new 65–75 inch TV for the chapel screen.
The Roof
Not every part of caring for the Chapel is exciting — the roof is about as unglamorous as it gets. As part of the Chapel’s ongoing maintenance, a new roof will be needed. But it’s what keeps the building standing, dry, and ready to serve Huntley for decades to come. It doesn’t come with a plaque or a headline, just the quiet knowledge that you’ve kept something important standing for the next generation.
A regular donation to the 1896 Club goes wherever the need is greatest — including these projects. Or talk to Annabel Whisker, our Alumni & Donations Co-ordinator.
