Huntley welcomes two new staff membersCategories: News; News;Publication: Current Parents; Date: 2010-01-25
I am pleased to announce that we have a replacement for Mr Ballantyne, who like Mr Reddish has done in 2009, will bring a new perspective and strength to the school. His name is Mark McAlley and he is an Old Boy of Huntley School. He has been teaching for ten years and has a wealth of experience to offer. He is currently teaching at Tauranga Intermediate, New Zealand’s largest Intermediate with over 1200 pupils. Last year he was director of sport for the school so he has had some management experience. This year he has been teaching in Year 7 so he is perfect for the job. When I asked him why he wanted to teach at Huntley he said the following, “I remember sitting out on the edge of the cricket pitch with Mr Allan the Headmaster at the time. He asked me what my goals were? I replied to make the 1st XI and 1st XV, and to come back and teach at Huntley.” It took him a while to reach the third goal but he is finally going to reach that goal next year. Mark is 31 and married to Kim and has an 18 month old girl named Brook and they have just informed me of the arrival of a baby boy named Cameron born in mid January 2010. I am also very pleased to announce that the new Year 4/5 teacher will be Mrs Trisha Reddish. Trisha came to Huntley with her husband David and three boys and for the past year she has been our International Student Co-ordinator. She has taught children of different learning abilities in a variety of schools in the British Education system for 16 years . Before coming to Huntley she taught Year 4/5 at Bradford Grammar School for 10 years and we are delighted with her appointment. Her expertise with electronic whiteboards will be a great asset to the School with the implementation of four new boards into the classrooms at the beginning of 2010. |
