General Information: Health

All new boys are required to have the Huntley pre-entry medical form completed by their family doctor prior to their arrival at the school.
Please ensure that Tetanus inoculations are up to date.
We must be informed of the date of the last inoculation.

A Matron is resident in the Dormitory block and the health of the boys is her responsibility. The School Doctor visits regularly. If there is any major concern in regard to a boy’s health, parents will be contacted ASAP.
All medication, including vitamins, is handled by the Matron and parents are asked to contact her if she is to give the boys any medication. Vitamins are given out at breakfast.

If a boy has received medication or has been in bed unwell, parents will be informed either by phone or in minor cases by written report each term. If a boy is sick in bed in excess of two days, or is the victim of an accident, parents will be informed by telephone.

A medical report is sent out at the end of every term, and parents (including day boy parents) are asked to return the termly ‘Health Certificate’ indicating whether or not their son has received medication or suffered illness. It is imperative that the school is informed if a boy is in contact with any infectious illnesses during the holidays or over a weekend leave. If in doubt, please phone.

Doctor’s / Dentist’s / Specialist’s Appointment
If a boy requires specialised treatment parents are requested to arrange an appointment in the school holidays if possible. If that is not possible please arrange an afternoon appointment, but not on a Thursday.
