Huntley draws a small number of students from overseas each year. Currently there are boys from Korea, Hong Kong and USA. In recent years we have also had boys from Japan, Thailand,Rwanda, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia, some of whom were New Zealand boys whose parents resided overseas.
All boys whose first language is not English are given ten English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons per week. These lessons are in small groups. The rest of the lessons are in the normal classes. This total immersion programme is proving to be extremely effective.
The boys’ English improves rapidly whilst living at school 24 hours a day with more than one hundred English-speaking boys their own age.
