Our School
A warm welcome to Huntley School, an outstanding independent school for boys aged 8 to 13 years. Founded in 1896 Huntley is the oldest preparatory boys' boarding and day school in New Zealand. With current rolls between 130 to 150 boys, 80-110 of whom are boarders, Huntley has the largest number of preparatory school boarders in New Zealand.
We are the preparatory boys' boarding school specialists. If you are considering preparatory boarding for your son, Huntley is where he needs to be. In 2009 we have finished our four year building project and refurbishment of the school.
For the first fifty-seven years of its existence Huntley was privately owned by successive Headmasters, until a Trust Board was formed in 1954 to purchase and administer the school. The school is located on thirteen hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds situated on the outskirts of Marton in the Rangitikei District of the North Island.
Huntley provides boys with the opportunity to try a great variety of activities. As a result of these challenging and enriching experiences:
Huntley boys have the confidence to:
- Make friends
- Work hard
- Play and simply enjoy being boys
- Try something different
- Be a tall poppy
